The First Six Months

We beat the Kardashians!! ;)

The first six months of marriage for us have been absolutely incredible. We love that at the end of difficult days at school and work we can come home to someone that makes us smile and feel loved. Taylor is my favorite person on this Earth and I consider it the greatest blessing that he feels the same way about me. I definitely could not have asked for a kinder, more fun, sweeter, loving husband than the man I admiringly get to call mine.

I knew after the first couple months of dating that I could easily marry Taylor and be the happiest girl in the world. And a couple months after that, Taylor had that "ah ha" moment as well ;). Did I ever tell you how this romantic guy of mine proposed?! Well, if I have you get to hear it again anyway because it's so dang cute and the rest of the world deserves to know as well.

Anyway, here's the back story. On October 16, 2011 Taylor came up to me at linger longer at our YSA ward. He had just given an amazing talk in Sacrament meeting and was feeling pretty confident, deciding that today was the day to finally ask a girl out. The funny thing was he wasn't planning on asking me out that day. He had his eyes on another sister in the ward, but she was too busy talking to some other guys that he lost his chance. (Taylor tells that part differently, but I'm the author of the blog so HA!) Anyway, we were chatting about life and his spiritual excellence when the conversion ended and he turned away, only to respond with a turn back to me while he said, "I think it's time we went on a date." I was slightly stunned as I made the reply, "Sounds good." We made plans for the first date and the rest was history!

We went to an Indian restaurant for date number one, followed with a showing of 500 Days of Summer (which we now call "our" movie). Date number two featured a walk around La Encantada (humongous outdoor mall) and a trip to the gelato  shop. Date number three consisted of a long walk and talk, sharing in each others company.

Now, Taylor had  impressive forethought to the actual proposal that I definitely did not see coming! He sneakingly  went from date number three to date number one all over again (over a two week period), so that we could remember where it all started. We often went on walks so I didn't really suspect anything there. When we went back to the same mall and gelato shop, I kind of thought something was up but nothing happened so I was a little disappointed. However, on the date of the actual proposal, he nailed it!

He took me back to the Indian restaurant, we talked about our favorite moments over the past six months and then he did something adorable. He pulled out a ring made out of string, grabbed my hand and said, "You once said that you would be okay with a string ring as long as I was the one that gave it to you. I don't have an actual ring for you right now, but I want you to wear this knowing that I plan to get you a real ring and take you to the temple." Overjoyed and smiling I put on the string ring and we finished our dinner. As soon as we get out to the car, Taylor says, "I have another surprise for you!" At this point I'm slightly confused and became a little nervous when he blindfolds me and helps me in the car.

For the next 30 minutes I sat there in the car, blindfolded, as he drove around to confuse me on our destination. When the car finally stopped, he opened the door, took my hand and walked me over to a building. He oddly had keys for this building and lead me inside. When the blindfold came off we were in the institute kitchen where he had first asked me out 6 months(on the dot--almost, time was different) before this. I turned looked at him to see that our song was playing while he held a rose and a gorgeous ring!

He then proceeded to say that he had only been accepted to one graduated school and was only able to find one house when he moved down here, putting him in my ward. He then said that he loved me and that he would be the happiest person if I would agree to marry him (all of this said while he was in tears--so cute). And with a simple yes, we danced to the rest of our song, ring on my finger and began our lives together!

Love this boy so much! He is the best person I know and I am so happy to be his wife! Love you babe! Happy 1/2 year anniversary!

    1. We absolutely adore you heather! We both agree that when we have kids we should move to Cedar City so that we could enjoy your company. You would be so fun to have around--and you are one of the only people we would trust to babysit our beautiful infant. Haha.
